Set Things in Order

Set things in order! It seems like for the past month that God is saying to set things in order. It is the worst part of winter and we should have already set things in order several months ago. We should have already gotten our cars winterized, plowed under our gardens back in the fall, and wrapped pipes and outdoor faucets for freezing temperatures. We also get our houses ready for winter by checking our heat source and making our house tight against the upcoming cold.

At my local church, we have also been setting things in order. The church staff is in place and all the volunteers have their new assignments. We are setting up for some new classes and events and just generally are getting ready (by faith) for the overflow that God has promised. We cannot expect God to wait while we hurriedly run around at the last minute, unprepared for His blessings. Remember the foolish virgins! (Matthew 25:1-13).

I was pondering this thought further and asked God, “What do I need to do as an individual to set things in order? “

I feel God spoke two single syllable words to me, PRAY and OBEY. The first thing we must do is to pray. Not only do we need to ask God and seek His Word for answers, but also we need to make sure we LISTEN! God is speaking volumes to His church today, but He has trouble finding someone who will sit still long enough and often enough to hear Him. Make sure you are taking time often to talk to God and also time to listen.

The second and strongest word was to obey. God showed me that we often couldn’t set things in order because we honestly do not have a clue on the ways to direct our own lives. It says in Psalms 37:23,

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” NKJV

The word order in the Hebrew means to be established. God knows everything in our past, present, and our future so that definitely makes Him the most reliable and trustworthy One to order our lives. God says that He will order our steps and all we have to do is obey each command. As we obey, things fall into place and start getting set in order. No amount of striving or trying to make things happen will work if we are out of God’s order.

It is time we all seek God and not wait for someone else to seek Him and tell us what He said. We need Him to set in order our lives so that we will be ready for whatever these end times will bring. Remember the key words are “pray” and “obey.” Will He find us prepared and set in order?
